Meet the Oceans Research Community

Every individual has a role to play and every individual makes a difference. While legislation and regulations are factors in protecting South Africa’s valuable marine resources, we want to reach the direct sources who will impact the future of our oceans in the coming years. By providing exciting education opportunities and resources to all South Africans at a young age, we want to teach them to respect, enjoy, and protect the ocean. We have several innovative programs reaching out to schools, asking the next-generation of leaders and influencers to be the change and together having a meaningful impact. Particularly in disadvantaged and impoverished areas where people may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the wonders of the ocean, we want to mold environmentally-aware minds and empower them to lead a sustainable transformational and economic growth in balance with the conservation of marine resources.
