This program aims to address youth unemployment challenges in South Africa by providing local underprivileged youth with marine employability related skills and certifications. Starting with learning to swim, the final goal is to empower passionate ocean ambassadors and changing negative preconceived mindsets through experience, knowledge and appreciation of the ocean.
We want to bring an ocean-filled immersive experience to schools. Children who have never learnt to swim, can now be with researchers on a boat or under the sea, watching sharks, whales, seals, all around them.
Clean-ups are great opportunities to educate the public about environmental issues such as carbon footprint or plastic pollution but talking about how each individual can make a difference.
Puppet shows are a fun, visual and dynamic tool for children to learn about marine conservation.
School and Library Outreach strives to inform the future leaders of our communities how sustainable use of marine resources and their conservation can go hand-in-hand.
